Rebates, tax credits & incentives

What's open, what's closed and what's coming for solar, batteries, heat pumps, EVs and efficiency — by country, with links to the official source for every program.

Big change for 2026: the main US federal homeowner credits for solar, batteries, heat pumps, efficiency upgrades and EVs have ended. State, utility and local programs — and programs in Canada, the UK, Australia and India — still offer real money. Always confirm with the official source before you buy.

How to use incentives well

  1. Check before you sign. Many rebates need pre-approval or an approved installer.
  2. Get it in writing. If an installer quotes a price "after incentives", ask which program, how much and who claims it.
  3. Stack carefully. Utility and provincial/state rebates can often be combined, but some reduce each other.
  4. Don't buy for the rebate. Run the full numbers in our solar or heat pump calculator first.

Frequently asked questions

Is there still a federal tax credit for solar panels in the US?

Not for homeowner-owned systems. The 25D Residential Clean Energy Credit does not apply to systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. Leased and PPA systems may still benefit indirectly through the owner's business credit, with deadlines into 2027.

Do incentives change whether solar or a heat pump is worth it?

They shorten payback but rarely decide it alone. Electricity prices, export rates, your climate and install cost usually matter more. Enter any incentive you qualify for as a percentage in our calculators.

How do I find rebates for my exact address?

In the US, search your ZIP in the DSIRE database and check your utility's rebate page. In Canada, check your province's program and utility. In the UK, use GOV.UK and the Energy Saving Trust. Installers often know local programs, too.
